Bio

 

Victor M. Meyers has practiced with the firm, primarily in litigation, since 1973.  Mr. Meyers handles litigation at all levels, including administrative proceedings, civil trials and appeals, representing plaintiffs and defendants.  Matters include real property disputes, tax certiorari, foreclosure, construction, personal injury, and matrimonial.  Mr. Meyers has successfully brought numerous matters before the Appellate Division and the Court of Appeals, including significant cases involving adverse possession of real estate, equitable distribution, administrative law, and construction contracts.

 For approximately 10 years, Mr. Meyers acted as assistant attorney for the Columbia County Department of Social Services, prosecuting family offenses and obtaining child protective orders. 

In 1976, Mr. Meyers served as Assistant District Attorney for Columbia County.  He served as Town Attorney for the Town of Clermont from 1978 to 1981, and as Town Attorney for the Town of Greenport from 1989 to 1991.  Currently, Mr. Meyers is the attorney for the Hudson City School District.

Mr. Meyers is a member of the New York State Bar Association. He is a member and past president of the Columbia County Bar Association.  Mr. Meyers has lectured regarding commercial litigation and foreclosures.

Mr. Meyers is the past president of the Columbia Festival Orchestra, past chairman of the Hawthorne Valley School Board of Trustees, past president of the Hudson Area Association Library, past president of the Hudson B'nai Brith Lodge, and past president of the Jewish Welfare Fund of Hudson. 

Mr. Meyers was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1969.  He graduated from New York University School of Law in 1969 and received his B.A. from Lehigh University in 1966.
